ABILITY CLAIM - STUDENTS
since students with "abilities" are not very common around hogwarts, the number of students for each ability is quite limited. in order to have your character be accepted for the specific ability you are applying for, your application will have to be quite good. abilities are not the coolest thing in the world so don't feel the need to be upset if your character doesn't have one of these abilities. abilities are limited to 1 per character! please use the form below in order to apply for an ability. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THEIR DESCRIPTIONS BEFORE APPLYING!

we reserve the right to refuse an application simply for not being believable or interesting enough since these are rare abilities and open to so few, however don't feel that it is necessary to write a novel in your application --- QUALITY NOT QUANTITY

WEREWOLF

there is only room for one werewolf at hogwarts and that is remus lupin. as we know from the books lupin was a special case admitted to hogwarts on the condition that he uses the whomping willow and shrieking shack for his transformations. if you are playing remus and would like to learn more about his transformations and history please click here and here.

VAMPIRE

vampires are not considered wizards by the ministry of magic (source) and therefore would not be enrolled at hogwarts. i hate to rain on the parade of having vampires at hogwarts, but it wouldn't make sense with the harry potter universe since they are not considered to have any magical powers.

VEELA

only part veelas are allowed to enroll at hogwarts since full veelas are considered magical creatures who throw handfuls of fire when angry and have wings which would be rather difficult to accommodate at hogwarts. however there are a few openings for half veela students to attend hogwarts.

ANIMAGUS

animagi are wizards who have the ability to transform into an animal while retaining a human brain. this is a very difficult form of transfiguration to master and is rather rare in the wizarding world (source). animgi are registered with the ministry of magic though some are not (such as the marauders). at hogwarts it would be particularly rare for students to master their ability on their own which is why the only position belong to the marauders for canonical reasons.

OCCLUMENS

occlumency is the art of magically defending the mind against external penetration, sealing it against magical intrusion and influence (source). the skill of Occlumency allows a person to block the efforts of a legilimens to probe their thoughts and memories. A person who practices this rare skill is called an occlumens. as stated, this is a very rare ability to acquire since it is very difficult to be taught. wizards are not usually capable of developing this skill until after their seventh year and therefore it wouldn't make particular sense to have any student at hogwarts being an occlumens considering there is no special need to teach a student do so as there was for harry potter.

LEGILIMENS

A Legilimens is a Wizard who has learned the art of Legilimency, sensing the thoughts of another person. voldemort is an accomplished legilimens but much like occlumency it requires great skill from a wizard to learn it and they would have to have magical competence over seventh year. therefore, once again, it would not make sense for any student at hogwarts to have this ability, although they may acquire it with much work after graduating.

SEER

another rare gift is the inner eye, the ability to prophesy. a wizard or witch with this gift is called a seer. seers have the ability to be overcome by another worldly force and make prediction for the future. there are certain degrees to which one has seer-like capabilities. for instance, sybill trelawney is a mild seer, making few prophecies in her life although seeming to have an other worldly connection.
