he lies, he lies, so sweet that i choke
Lucius Malfoy, Seventh Year, Pure-Blood, Slytherin
As a member of one of the most powerful wizarding families, Lucius Malfoy has a reputation to maintain. Manipulative, opportunistic, member of the Slug Club, future Death Eater, elitist, and apathetic. Sounds charming, right?
Friendships: Lucius doesn't have friends. He has connections. Lucius is not one to let his loyalties lie firmly in one person or group, but rather in whoever will better serve in his favor. Even those that seek out his friendship are more than likely doing it for their own personal gain. After all, he is a Malfoy. Unless you're a Slytherin, he probably won't even acknowledge your existence.
Love: We all know he marries Narcissa Black in the end (they'll have their son Draco in 1980), but we have some time until then. Unfortunately, Lucius isn't very romantically-driven. He is ambitious in his career and in his family loyalties, but not in love. However, he's no prude, either. Like any seventeen-year old boy, he has his conquests. But he's the type to love and leave. He's sure to have plenty of scorned lovers and a handful of starry-eyed Slytherin girls wanting to marry a Malfoy.
Enemies: This is something Lucius isn't in short supply of. There's always a witch or wizard who has it out for him, whether it's out of jealousy or because of Lucius' general licentiousness. As a seventh year, Lucius is a bit more brooding and contemplative. He doesn't have time for 'schoolroom politics,' and probably considers himself above the drama. Regardless, if you're anything but a Slytherin, you better watch your back.
Note: In the face of his inevitable future as a Death Eater, Lucius is presently experiencing some trepidation. You know, your typical teenager-y, question-everything doubts. Don't worry, he's not about to go rubbing elbows with Gryffindors, or anything, but he's wondering about his place in the grand scheme of things. Anyway, it'd be awesome if I could get one or two people to help with this. Like... maybe a Slytherin who tries to keep him in on the right path, or maybe he'll even briefly start to fraternize with other Houses at the encouragement of inclusive Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, et cetera. Plot-wise, I haven't really thought about this in-depth. And something will have to happen to revert him back to his Malfoy-ish ways. This would be a pretty brief period of soul-searching, if you will.
He's also in the Slug Club and Dueling Club, FYI to the other members of those clubs.

can i handle the seasons of my life
Maddock Basinger, Sixth Year, Half-Blood, Hufflepuff
Maddock Basinger could be the Hufflepuff mascot (aside from the badger, of course). He's everything that would expected of a Hufflepuff: inclusive, loyal, un-materialistic, and idealistic. Aside from these admirable attributes, however, Maddock is also shy, very critical of himself, and a perfectionist. Also, he's deathly afraid of being suffocated by Saran wrap. He's quirky.
Friendships: Maddock probably has a few close friends rather than a huge circle of them. Maddock is drawn to all sorts of people (he should probably become an anthropologist, or something) and would probably like to surround himself with people of varying qualities. He could really use people who are outgoing and verbose, people that would help him break out of his shell.
Love: He'd probably be a terrible boyfriend. Yeah, he's kind and loyal (he'd never tell you that dress makes you look fat), but he's also pretty wrapped-up in his head. You've been warned.
Enemies: Maddock isn't really the kind to have enemies. There might be people who regard with a certain amount of uncertainty, but I can't imagine that Maddock would have done anything to warrant enemies. He might have a few Slytherins down his throat about being a half-blood and in general just because Maddock is an advocate for equal rights for all.

but the devil pulled me in by my elbow, gently removed my blindfold
Gabriel Whittington, Librarian, Muggle-Born, Ravenclaw Alumni
Friendships: Gabriel is very introverted and likely only has one or two legitimately close friends. I imagine him having a best mate that's always trying to wrangle him into going on dates (with little avail). Although shy, he's open to friendships with just about anyone. He makes for a pretty good confidante, since he's a very understanding and open-minded sort.
Love: Hahahahaha!!! Yeah, Gabriel is the absolute worst at dating. A first date brings him so much anxiety and distress that there rarely is a second one. Social engagements bring out the awkward in Gabriel. He has a tendency to spout humorless jokes and make puns with obscure magical history references that go right over peoples' heads. Needless to say, he's had very few serious relationships.
Enemies: As the very recently appointed Librarian (and for being a super-nerd), Gabriel is prone to the pranks by rowdy Gryffindors and malicious Slytherins. This sort of mischief is only escalated by the fact that he's a 'mud-blood,' and prejudice is still so prevalent.

Presently has an open thread in the library. Would love responses! <3
