The fresh snow covering everything like a blanket had never failed to make her eyes light up when she was a child. Even now, at the age of seventeen, there had been little to change that. Her mother hated the snow, saying that it made everything look grey and dead. Siobhan on the other hand preferred to have a more positive outlook, replying that it made everything look clean. It a topic the two argued about come every winter when Siobhan went home for the holidays and it always ended with Siobhan tossing out some comment about how her mother should move to a warmer climate if she didn’t want to see snow. Her mother typically became what Siobhan liked to refer to as a winter shut-in, or hermit, the second the first flake touched the ground whereas Siobhan would find any excuse that she could to be outside. Luckily for her, a decent amount of snow had fallen over the night, leaving the small village of Hogsmeade looking like it had been taken right from the pages of a Christmas story. While the snow may have deterred some of the students from visiting Hogsmeade that weekend, Siobhan had hurried dressed in her warmer clothes and left the castle; the idea of eating breakfast not even occurring to her. In her defense, there had been some materials for school that she had needed to pick up and her desire to get her things and holiday shopping out of the way had been more important to her than eating. It wasn’t as if she would go hunger what with the numerous places to eat in Hogsmeade. Overall, the shopping had proved to be rather quick and easy. There had barely been a line at the quill shop and she had been in and out within five minutes at Gladrags Wizard Wear. Even the lines at Zonko’s Joke Shope and Honeydukes had been relatively small, something that Siobhan viewed as a success seeing as how those two particular stores were the more popular ones amongst her peers. All in all, she was completely done with her shopping a little after noon, her gloved hands holding numerous bags of the goodies that she had purchased. Shifting from one booted foot to the other, Siobhan rose up on her toes in an attempt to peer over the heads of the witches and wizards around her. She had told Victor to come and meet up with her after the shopping was done at the Three Broomsticks, which had been close to half an hour ago. To be fair, she had given him the time of one thirty so he wasn’t technically late as she was early. Glancing at the door that led into the pub, Siobhan came to conclusion that there would be no difference if she waited inside for her friend to arrive. Not only would it give her a chance to warm up, but it would also give her a chance to decide on what she wanted to order. Siobhan had become quite hungry in the passing hours since arriving. Without a second thought, the young redhead turned and walked into the pub. The warm air hit her like she had just opened the door to an oven, causing her pink cheeks to tingle at the temperature change. For a moment, Siobhan stood in the doorway, her gaze flickering to the tables around her as she looked for an open one. As always, the Three Broomsticks had a decent amount of people and it was a bit of a surprise when she spotted an open table not far from where she stood. Siobhan quickly made her way over to it, least someone else come out of woodwork and claimed it. Upon reaching the seat, she set the bags on the ground by her feet and removed her coat before draping it over the back of her chair. Siobhan then took a seat on the chair facing the door. She planned to wait till Victor got there before ordering anything and this way she would know the second he set foot inside. Notes: Hope this is okay. I wrote it at the same time as I wrote my essay so it might be a little choppy. Next one will be better, promise. ^_^ |
