MONTAGUE full name: ariane zoe montague canon or orginial: canon age: sixteen year: sixth house: ravenclaw blood: pure wand: 14", dragon heartstring, oak patronus: cheetah boggart: finding out that any of her family or friends are harmed -- or become associated with death eaters. erised: being a curse-breaker for gringott's and traveling all over the world and adventuring. birth place: marseilles, france ------------------------------------------------- the middle child of the montague family, ariane has always had a tendency to be the center of attention. energetic, silly, and loud to the point of sometimes being obnoxious, she was always trying to get a rise out of her sister and her brother, all in good fun of course. although her family is from england, ariane was born in marseilles, france, while the family was on vacation, due to the fact that she arrived three and a half weeks early. obviously this is why her parents decided to give her a french name, and ariane still has a love for french language and culture. growing up, ariane was close to her siblings but often felt a bit neglected by her parents who either favored their first born or their only son. of course, many of her insecurities could have been only in her head, but that's how she felt nonetheless. her parents were constantly telling ariane to be quiet and stop bouncing around so much, for she has always been full of energy and motivation to just do something. this ended up coming in handy when ariane was sorted into ravenclaw upon arriving at hogwarts, and she discovered that she had a natural flair for academics and especially excelled in charms. most people wouldn't think of ariane as being a typical ravenclaw. she's a social butterfly and the life of the party, for one, and she is one of the biggest girly-girls you will ever meet. she adores fashion and always looking her best. she's also a bit of a spaz and has a knack for doing silly things-- simply not the type of person people view as being in ravenclaw. but when she's not in the middle of a large group of people or flirting with various boys, ariane genuinely has a thirst for knowledge and actually enjoys reading textbooks and researching and writing essays. and she has such a quick wit that oftentimes people don't even catch on to her sarcasm. the darker her mood, the drier her wit becomes. being brighter than average, ariane is certainly aware of the darkness stirring in the wizarding world and even right inside hogwarts. it scares her, of course, but there is no way that ariane would ever follow this whispered-of dark leader. she has always been naturally accepting of people so long as they didn't give her a reason to dislike them. although she's pure-blood herself, she certainly has nothing against muggle-borns or half-bloods. sometimes ariane wonders and worries about even her own family, and their allegiances, because these days it seems like you can't trust anybody. |

a roleplay sample:
Ariane rolled her eyes as the girls' bathroom door swung closed behind her. She marched over to the mirror to make sure she didn't need to reapply any mascara or comb her hair. Her brother she had left apparently fuming back out in the hallway after they'd had a "fight". Really, she never understood why he took everything so seriously when she was only teasing him as she'd always done. Poking fun at people was in Ariane's nature; nobody else ever took it personally, as they shouldn't. The last thing she wanted was for people to think she was hateful and mean. Honestly! After making sure everything was in order when it came to her face and hair, Ariane left the bathroom and began to make her way toward the library with her bag packed full of books. Her brow furrowed as she considered a charm to make her book bag feel lighter.
It was altogether unsurprising when the librarian shot her a dirty look up on Ariane's entrance. More often than not, Ariane ended up running into a friend and having a joyful mini-reunion, and yes, she admitted that most of the time she found it impossible to remember to keep her voice down. Personally Ariane thought she was an old hag, but of course she'd never say such a thing for fear of losing her library privileges. Just the thought of it made her shudder. Nobody could possibly understand Ariane's love for books. Just the smell of them brought her a feeling of utter contentment -- which was just one of many reasons she loved the library. The librarian was not one of them.
Contrary to the strict level of silence kept in the library, there was quite a large number of students scattered about, studying quietly. Here and there a whisper came floating over from a couple students putting their heads together. Ariane took a few slow steps, scanning around the room for an unoccupied table or chair. The closest she found was a table with only one person sitting at it, a boy who looked to be around her age or holder who was intently reading a gigantic book. He looked familiar, of course, as all the older students around Hogwarts did, but she couldn't place a name to his face because she didn't think she'd ever actually met him.
"Hi," she said in a low whisper after she'd made her way over to the table in the corner. The boy glanced up at her but didn't say anything. "Anyone sitting here?" She indicated the other empty seat at the table with a bright smile. The boy only nodded curtly and returned to his reading, no sign of emotion on his face. Okay then, not the friendly type. Noted. Ariane quietly sat down and pulled out her copy of History of Magic: Grade 6, possibly one of the most boring volumes ever written according to most sixth years, but she found it fascinating.
