AERHART full name: chanli rose aerhart canon or orginial: original age: 16 year: sixth house: ravenclaw blood: pureblood wand: 11" veela hair, oak patronus: german shepard boggart: not being able to breathe; drowning erised: her greatest wish is to become known, or famous birth place: london, england ------------------------------------------------- Chanli was, like every student, eleven years old when her Hogwarts letter arrived. She was beyond ecstatic, having looked forward to this day most of her life. Well, since the beginning of summer. Her older brother, Elliot, was a second year by then, heading on to his third. He promised to be helpful and show her the interesting details of the castle. But first he recommended things to buy in Diagon Alley during their trip a few weeks before heading to the train station. Which leads up to her first year at Hogwarts. At first she was extremely shy, since she didn’t know anyone, or whom to converse with. Once she was sorted into Ravenclaw, she was relieved and scared. Elliot was a Gryffindor, so she couldn’t be around him as much as she had planned. She focused more on her classes then having a good time, achieving fantastic grades. But of course she did, don’t all Ravenclaws? Her second year was a little different. Instead of focusing on her grades, she found herself exploring the castle. The castle was too big and marvelous to ignore, and she felt she had to explore it at some point. Her grades didn’t drop extremely, and she received her first grade that she was ashamed of, which was in Potions, her least favorite class. She got a Poor, and she dreaded the day when she had to tell her parents. She made one good friend, practically her best friend, named Holly Marks. Holly was a Hufflepuff, however, so their times together were limited. They stuck through it, though, and were inseparable. Chanli was used to things by her third year. She made friends in the fellow Ravenclaw house, and continued to talk to Holly, though they were drifting apart slightly. Holly had made new friends, and so had Chanli. It was a short friendship, but they still exchange small greetings. Chanli talked to other Ravenclaws, mostly those a year above her and in the same year. She became best friends with Kati and Jeni; they were twins. They did basically everything together, and random observers would assume all three of them to be sisters, not just the twins. With the help of Kati and Jeni, her grades went up from her last year, mostly to Outstanding and Exceeds Expectations, with Potions trailing behind with an Acceptable. By her fourth year, she assumed her Potions grade wouldn’t be what she had hoped, so she set a goal for herself: that she would work her hardest in Potions class and in the homework assignments. She constantly reminded herself of this goal throughout the year, and she noticed that it actually worked. She had received an Exceeds Expectations, which made her literally dance for joy. It wasn’t her favorite class, actually it was the least. She didn’t know why, but it didn’t exactly interest her to learn about potions, the ingredients, and the uses. She loved to know what all the potions were, and how many, but not how to make them. She found it difficult when others found it simple. She preferred Charms, her favorite class. She always received an Outstanding, usually because she paid attention, but more because she enjoyed learning about it and conjuring different charms. Kati got her first boyfriend, making Chanli and Jeni extremely jealous. Kati stopped talking to them for a while, hanging out with her beau instead. Eventually she felt bad, and so did Chanli and Jeni. They waved away the issues and dropped the whole boyfriend matter. Her fifth year flew by with the breeze, mostly because she was distracted the whole time, having finally got a boyfriend herself, like Kati. He was one year ahead of her, a sixth year Hufflepuff. She found him, Lucas, dreamy and cute. They talked more and more until they finally started to date. It was the happiest that anyone had ever seen Chanli. That year her older brother was a seventh year, his last year at Hogwarts. He was excited, though Chanli was quite sad that she wouldn’t get to see her older brother for a long while. As for her grades, they were basically the same: Outstanding in Herbology and Charms, Potions taking up the rear with an Acceptable, and the other classes varying between Outstanding and Exceeds Expectations. This year she forgot about her goal for Potions, having been distracted by Lucas. Unfortunately, during the summer after her fifth year, she broke up with Lucas. It turned out that he was seeing other girls, which obviously made Chanli mad. Now she is in her sixth year and she can’t wait to get it all over with. All she wants is to graduate and start her life outside of supervision. |

a roleplay sample:
It was just before the sunset when an owl flew towards Kristen, a letter dangling from its foot. Kristen gave it a warm smile, untying the piece of parchment. “Hold on,” she said to the bird, pulling up her bag that was once resting against the chair on the floor. She pulled out an owl treat that she kept for her own owl, holding it out in her palm. The owl took it in its beak before flying out the open window. A chuckle escaped her lips before she placed her bag on the floor again. The letter remained atop her small pile of books, taunting her to open it, though she wasn’t sure if she wanted to. The Ravenclaw Common Room showed no signs of life, apart from one first year sitting in front of the fire. Everyone was at the Quidditch match. Ravenclaw was playing Slytherin, which should be quite a close game. She usually attended the matches with Kati and Jeni, but she didn’t feel up to it this time for some odd reason. The sixth year sighed, running her fingers through her hair. She gave in, opening the letter, yet expecting the worse.
Meet me on the grounds.
She recognized the hand-writing to belong to Lucas, her boyfriend. Her lips formed a smile, taking up most of her face. She quickly stuffed the letter into the book on the top of the pile and left the common room, leaving the first year to sit alone. Slowing herself down, she took each step carefully, not wanting to appear sweaty or dirty when meeting up with Lucas. Her appearance was important to her, though he might not care. The walk to the grounds was quite long, since she paced herself. Kristen didn’t want to look as though she had run the whole way, even though that’s all she wanted to do. Lately, Lucas had been busy with all sorts of school work. He was, after all, a seventh year and would be graduating Hogwarts the next month. There were a lot of things he needed to do, to work on. Kristen understood and gave him the time and space he needed to concentrate.
The sun was near setting, the sky a mixture of bright and deep colors, as if the wind had painted the sky. The hair on her arms stood up slightly as a chill breeze splashed across the grounds. She shivered as she scanned the area for Lucas, clutching her arms to her body. Movement by a nearby tree caught her eye, and she headed that way. Either it was Lucas, or it was someone else. Either way, they could always help her find him, or tell her if they had noticed anyone lately. The tree branches rustled, knocking a few leaves to the ground. A leg dangled in the air, followed by another one. Someone was sitting in the tree, and Kristen couldn’t help but laugh. As she approached the area, she looked up and saw Lucas. Rolling her eyes, she climbed up, slipping a few times, but always catching herself.
“Hey there,” she greeted him, planting a kiss on his cheek. He smiled, but didn’t return the greeting. Puzzled, she crinkled her eyebrows, settling down on the branch, swinging her feet. After a few moments of silence, she couldn’t take it anymore. “Lucas, is something wrong?” She looked at him, though he was looking the opposite way, not meeting her eye contact.
“Kristen…” he stopped, turning his head to face her, though looking down at his hands. “I like you a lot, but…” he trailed off, still not looking up.
Kristen bit her lip, holding back tears and alternate words. She couldn’t believe what was about to happen. He was going to end things, even after two years of happiness. She thought back over the last few months, wondering if she had somehow caused this and didn’t make any motion to fix it. Finding nothing, however, she carefully jumped down from the tree, heading towards the Quidditch Pitch, where the game was still being played. “Kristen!” he called down at her. She wiped a rolling tear off of her cheek, and didn’t look back. Somehow she was interested in watching the match after all.
